Summary The Medical Assistant performs a combination of administrative and clinical tasks within our clinic. The Medical Assistant works alongside other medical staff under the clinical supervision of a physician or Mid-Level Provider and administrative supervision of the Clinic Manager and ultimately the Director of Operations. Job Duties

<li>Care for a medically complex and emotionally challenging patient population that requires compassion, empathy, and the ability to deescalate and appropriately react to unacceptable behavior in individual and group settings.</li>

About the Role:
We are looking for passionate, talentedExperienced Veterinary Doctor Assistantsto join our team. This is a seasonal/temporary position with potential for full-time.TheDoctor Assistantperforms a wide range of duties, but primarily focuses on acting as a liaison between clients and doctors. The Doctor Assistant role is vital in keeping the hospital running efficiently. Note: This is primarily an administrative role. This position requires some animal handling, but mostly focuses on administrative duties.
The main goals of theDoctor Assistantis to ensure the doctors feel supported, and clients and patients feel comforted and at-ease.
 
Requirements:

<li>Minimum of 1 year experience working in veterinary medicine</li>
<li>Knowledge of veterinary medicine; appropriate triage and medical terminology</li>
<li>Excellent understanding of technology and software; computer-savvy</li>
<li>Experience with ezyVet is a plus, but not required</li>
<li>Consistently displays a professional demeanor and accountability</li>
<li>Communicates in a calm, clear, respectful and concise manner (with clients, team members and any other visitors)</li>
<li>Has a friendly disposition and a desire to help others: provides a high level of care to each client</li>

Essential Job Functions:
<ul>
<li>Act as support for doctors, and regularly check-in to handle doctor requests</li>
<li>Room clients and patients. Discuss patient history and update chart. Assist clients with questions and concerns</li>
<li>Work with technology to ensure efficient workflow</li>
<li>Act as a liaison between doctors, clients, and technicians</li>
<li>Ensure exam rooms are fully stocked and clean at all times</li>
<li>Obtain client and patient information for medical records</li>
<li>Create and discuss treatment plans with clients. Ensure all appropriate forms are completed before treatments are performed</li>
<li>Submit doctor orders to VetRadar in a timely manner to allow prompt patient care</li>
<li>Routinely check on clients and offer patient updates</li>
<li>Properly fill medications to go home with clients and ensure accuracy</li>
<li>Maintain the flow of each patient visit. Understand where each patient is during every step of the visit process, and consistently keep clients updated</li>
<li>Review patient discharges, collect and post client payments as needed</li>
<li>Make and take client phone calls as necessary. Perform daily callbacks to check on patients and answer client questions</li>
<li>Ensure patients are clean and comfortable</li>
<li>Keep in consistent contact with other team members (via Google Chat and/or phones)</li>
<li>Assist Virtual Care Coordinators with answering phones as needed, using a professional and compassionate tone at all times</li>
<li>Continuously strive to improve the Doctor Assistant position and hospital as a whole</li>
<li>Assist all other healthcare team members as needed</li>
<li>Other duties as needed/assigned</li>
</ul>
 
Seasonal Schedule:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 1:30pm to 10:00pm / Friday, Saturday from 11:30am to 8:00pm
