Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as the Program Director for a Family Medicine Residency Program. This opportunity is ideal for a dynamic medical educator who is passionate about resident training, academic leadership, and serving medically underserved populations. The Program Director will guide the strategic and operational direction of the residency program while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the Family Medicine Residency Program

  • Ensure full compliance with ACGME and institutional requirements

  • Design and implement a curriculum that supports comprehensive resident education

  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor residency faculty

  • Lead the resident recruitment and selection process

  • Monitor and support resident progress and performance, including remediation when necessary

  • Foster faculty and resident scholarly activity

  • Develop and maintain program policies and procedures

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and institutional leadership

  • Serve as a professional role model and mentor to residents

  • Manage financial and administrative aspects of the program

Schedule and Shift Details

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday

  • 8-hour daytime shifts

Travel Requirements

  • Local travel to affiliated hospitals and facilities within the region is required

Residency Program Details:

  • 18 residents total (6 per year)

  • Next incoming class: 2026

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Doctorate degree (MD or DO)

  • Board Certified in Family Medicine in California

  • Active and unrestricted medical license in California (MD or DO)

  • 5+ years of clinical experience in Family Practice

  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership, academic, or administrative role

  • 2+ years of experience in a residency or graduate medical education setting

  • Current certifications and registrations including:

    • DEA (California)

    • Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) registration

    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)

  • Must be willing and able to travel locally as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
