FLOOR SHIFT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General OversightRemain visible and accessible throughout the entirety of the shift to support the team and ensure smooth service.Complete opening and closing checklists every shift, in full.Ensure that all departments fill out their shift checklists every shift, in full.Be aware of all large parties and/or events taking place during the shift, and ensure staff are prepared and the spaces are ready to go. Support the Events Team in executing a flawless event.Ensure there are enough BEO menus in the host drawer for the small party events scheduled that day. Property WalkthroughsConduct a full walkthrough of the restaurant at the start, middle, and end of each M.O.D. shift. Confirm the following:All public and service areas are neat, clean, and organized, with no clutter or safety hazards.Lighting, music, and temperature are set according to guidelines.Check in with team members across all departments during each walkthrough. Resolve any issues.Ensure all event spaces are set up properly.Check to make sure bathrooms are stocked and clean on a consistent basis during busy service hours. Guest ExperienceGreet and engage with as many guests as possible throughout the shift (table touching).Be totally present during high-traffic periods to support the front-of-house and connect with guests.Handle all guest concerns or complaints promptly, thoroughly, and with genuine hospitality. Take action. The goal is to get every guest to want to come back.Ensure guest inquiries (questions, reservations, special requests) are addressed quickly and kindly.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all restaurant offerings to confidently answer guest questions.Ensure all uniforms are correct, in good condition, pressed, etc. in accordance with uniform and appearance standards. Service OperationsAt the beginning of each shift, read the prior shifts notes and review whats on the books for the shift. Identify comps, VIPs, large groups, and events and make sure all departments are informed and prepared.Ensure the shift is properly staffed, calling in or off team members as needed. Inform the department head of any changes or issues.Manage labor throughout the shift, ensuring labor budget is adhered to.Ensure team members are provided rest and meal breaks in accordancy with California labor laws and company policy.Monitor and support efficient flow of service throughout the shift. Step in when needed to resolve bottlenecks or service delays. Emergency & Incident HandlingRespond quickly and calmly to emergencies or unexpected issues. Coordinate with appropriate leads to resolve them efficiently.Be familiar with and follow all incident reporting protocols. Fill out incident reports and ensure proper documentation and follow-up.Escalate major issues to the General Manager or Ownership as needed. Safety & MaintenanceMaintain a safety-conscious mindset for all guests, staff, and property.Report any damage to furniture, fixtures, or equipment to the appropriate person. Take ownership of ensuring the issue is addressed promptly and thoroughly. Leadership & Team CultureSupport and communicate with all team members to build a strong, positive work culture.Observe team member performance. Give constructive feedback as appropriate, during the appropriate time and in the right place.Document any staff issues and make the department head aware so they may follow up. Lead or attend daily pre-shift briefings. Share updates and priorities with the team clearly and professionally, including VIPs, comps, events, large parties, etc.Ensure a complete hand-off to the next shift so there is no lapse in communication or service. Overcommunicate.Be available to work weekends, holidays, and special events as needed. Required Skills/Abilities: Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.Restaurant / Lounge high volume experience requiredStrong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skillsProactive attitude with strong organizational and time management skillsThe ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goalFlexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that will include evenings, nights, weekends and holidaysStrong problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Proficient with Toast and any other job related software.Ability to frequently lift, move and/or push up to 50 pounds without assistance.Ability to sit, walk, climb up and down stairs repeatedly for extended periods of time.Constant standing and bending.Tasks will be performed using and in the proximity of coolers, stoves, and other hot equipment.
