NICU Manager – Level 3

$145,000 – $185,000 per year
Sign-on Bonus: $750

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Level 3 NICU Manager to lead our high-acuity neonatal team. This is a 24/7 leadership role with responsibility for clinical excellence, operations, staffing, and regulatory compliance. The NICU Manager reports directly to the Nursing Director of Women, Infants & Children and plays a key role in ensuring exceptional care for our most vulnerable patients.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
- Provide 24/7 accountability for NICU operations and patient care quality.
- Directly supervise clinical staff, Clinical Managers, and Resource Nurses.
- Manage scheduling, shift coverage, staffing patterns, and acuity monitoring.
- Maintain compliance with Title 22, TJC, CDPH, CCS, and all regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with the NICU Director and NICU Medical Director.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and review quality indicators.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements remain current.
- Conduct rounding with families, address concerns, and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Investigate incidents, document, and implement corrective action plans.
Administrative & Financial Oversight
- Review and manage departmental productivity each pay period.
- Oversee Kronos, staffing data, and monthly statistical accuracy.
- Maintain supply management, invoicing, contracts, and capital equipment planning.
- Ensure timely completion of evaluations, certifications, and licensure tracking.
Team Development & Culture
- Mentor and support Clinical Managers and Resource Nurses.
- Facilitate staff meetings, recognition programs, and operational committees.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and professional development.
- Provide direct patient care or assist with procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications
Level 3 NICU Manager experience (required)
5+ years NICU experience + 3+ years full-time NICU leadership
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Active CA RN license
BSN (or in progress with confirmed completion date)
Current BLS & NRP (must remain current)
Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (NCC or equivalent)
• In progress, considered with a confirmed completion date
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Nursing
NRP Instructor Certification
Critical Care Transport experience
