Position Summary
Monitor and support clients through both the detox and stabilization process and provide crisis management support as necessary. This position is a part-time position working the overnight shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Interface with new clients with alcohol and drug abuse issues upon admission and throughout their stay.
- Assist in admitting and orienting new clients.
- Assist in explaining expectations, policies, and procedures to clients.
- Assist in client acclimation to the SolutionPoint Behavioral Health community.
- Utilize intervention and communication skills in working with clients, and assist in diverting clients leaving Against Clinical Advice and Against Medical Advice, etc… (ACA, AMA)
- Must be a role model at all times, and if appropriate, shares personal experience, strength, and hope with clients. Ensures client, staff, volunteer, and vendor safety is adhered to at all times.
- Assist in ACA and AMA blocking, lead group(s), as assigned by supervisor, and assist with the daily operation of the Detox/Residential program.
- The Behavioral Health Technician will maintain open and healthy communication with supervisor, and Leadership Team members
- Monitor clients at all times and completes the observation logs every 30 minutes according to the Department of Health Care Services regulations.
- Conduct searches on clients, client property, and living spaces when needed, including inventory of client personal property with clients upon intake.
- Ensure that activity and treatment schedule is adhered to.
- Assist monitoring client’s self-administration of medication as scheduled to ensure that clients take medication as prescribed, and document the same.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing as required. Observation of client’s during specimen collection for drug testing as specified in established protocol.
- Is responsible for the cleanliness of assigned property inside and outside by re-stocking items, following up on client chores, assisting them, and if necessary, completing client chores.
- Perform daily scheduled rounds of the building and grounds, ensuring clients are in assigned rooms at all times.
- Attend all in-services training provided by SolutionPoint Behavioral Health or outside agencies as required.
- Document, log, and report as necessary any significant incidents involving clients care and safety.
- Facilitate groups with a 12-step based curriculum and foundation
- Maintain the facility grounds at all times.
- Comply with all SolutionPoint Behavioral Health policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Keep work area clean and neat
- Assist clinical staff as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to enforce policies and procedures in a fair, firm, and consistent manner.
- Ability to speak clearly, write legible, and concise notes.
- Skill in dealing with colleagues as a team member and interacting well with others.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles. Must have a valid California driver’s license.
- Knowledge of 12-step support groups and principles.
- Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various ethnic groups.
- Must have sensitivity to and ability to embrace individuals of different genders, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religions, and those with diversified cultural backgrounds.
- Skills in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Skills in taking vital signs, observing clients' medical conditions and withdrawal symptoms.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle clients based on whatever maturity level in which they are currently functioning.
- Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to use good judgment and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Skill and ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.
- Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Previous experience in chemical dependency treatment environment required (2-5 years preferred); strong interpersonal and communication skills; be familiar with the 12-step program of recovery; and if in recovery, a minimum of one year of continuous recovery.
Required License &/or Certifications
? RADT 1, CADC certificate preferred, or any other related certification (Can be in progress)
? Current Adult First Aid certification
? Valid CA Driver's License and Car Insurance clearance to transport clients as needed
? Proof of recent TB Test
? High School diploma or General Education Degree
