Job Summary:
The Armed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of personnel, facilities, and assets by conducting regular patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, and managing access points. Officers are tasked with deterring potential threats and responding swiftly to security incidents. This role requires adherence to all state and company safety protocols, including California's legal requirements for armed security personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Secure the designated station with attention, discipline, and professionalism.
- Conduct routine patrols of the facility's perimeter and checkpoints.
- Monitor and maintain surveillance systems (CCTV), ensuring they function properly.
- Verify the identity of visitors, guests, and employees, managing access points to the facility.
- Respond promptly to security incidents and report any suspicious activity or breaches.
- Ensure all firearms are handled safely and legally, adhering to company and California state guidelines.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong experience in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, and crowd control.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work well independently and remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Must be at least 21 years old, as required by state law for armed positions.
Certifications (Required):
- Valid BSIS Guard Card and BSIS Firearm Permit.
- Completion of a 14-hour firearms training course (classroom instruction and range practice).
- Must requalify with a firearm every 6 months, as required by BSIS.
- First Aid/CPR certification is preferred but not required.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of experience in armed security, law enforcement, or military service.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Capable of repetitive hand and arm motions as well as extended periods of typing.
- Capable of looking at a screen for extended periods or entire shifts.
- Some travel may be required to attend cross-functional team meetings or support product launch events.
Work Schedule (Non-Exempt):
This position is scheduled on a full-time basis. Specific shift times and workdays are determined by the operation and may vary by location. Business needs may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overtime. Scheduled start and end times, assigned shifts, and workdays are subject to change based on staffing and operational requirements. Whenever feasible, advance notice of schedule changes will be provided.

Positions in our production facilities may lead to regular exposure to cannabis plant material, dust, and other potential allergens. Individuals with sensitivity to pollen, molds, or strong odors may experience discomfort. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required.
