Job DescriptionDesert Publications Inc. seeks a locally based Freelance Art Director to join our team in Palm Springs, California. Now entering our 66th year, the independently owned company produces several consumer and custom publications — including the award-winning monthly magazine Palm Springs Life.
The Freelance Art Director will be a sophisticated magazine designer with the ability to produce photo shoots — from selecting and contracting photographers to directing the talent on location — and conceptualize and design elite custom luxury lifestyle magazines and support collaterals.
The position requires a strong understanding of the Adobe product suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop. The successful candidate will be a well-organized self-starter who can amiably collaborate with clients on direction and execution, meet deadlines, and manage a photography budget.
Responsibilities:
- Magazine design and layout
- Photo shoot production (including management of budget and contracts)
- Photo research
- Organization of art and design assets
Skill requirements:
- Adobe Suite
- Microsoft Word
- Coordination and project management
- Graphic design skills
- Multimedia content development
- Proficiency with illustration tools is a plus
This is NOT a remote position. You will not be considered if you are out of the greater Palm Springs area.
