Position Summary
The art instructor will work with the Outreach Community Coordinator to create a school year calendar Arts education curriculum for ASP and community children.Will work as needed teaching various arts techniques and skills. Final products can be shown in Special Seasonal Salvation Army events, exhibits, and Music and Arts Recitals. In addition will schedule days to teach music and engage with children and adults.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities
- Create a calendar specific to arts classes
- Provide art lessons for all ages (children and adults)
- Teach visual arts and instruct students on how to develop artistic arts and skills
- Arrange art classes to participate in special events
Specific Duties:
- To provide a well-rounded and comprehensive art education
- Teach visual arts literacy and technical artistic skills (drawing, painting, ceramics, metals, printmaking, fiber arts, photography, sculpture, works in wood, mixed media, architectural, environmental, and industrial arts such as urban interior, product, and landscape design, and folklore)
- Instructing and encouraging students in visual arts projects
- Preparing students for public exhibits
- Support Christmas and Seasonal events and programs
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Experienced Arts background
- Driving Test and clean MVR check (if applicable).
- Criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Must be able to read music
- Capability to work within a team environment
- Patience and adaptability
