Job Summary:
The Process Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing our cannabis production processes. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring product quality, and leading root cause analyses for manufacturing and material non-conformances. Your expertise in SPC, Lean manufacturing principles, and advanced process optimization will be essential in developing strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Additionally, you will support the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with GMP standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
- Develop and implement strategies based on Lean manufacturing principles to optimize production processes and reduce waste.
- Utilize advanced process optimization techniques and statistical process control (SPC) to improve product quality and production efficiency.
- Create and execute a prioritized continuous improvement plan targeting key areas for operational enhancement.
- Quality Management & Compliance:
- Lead investigations for all Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) related to materials or manufacturing, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Conduct root cause analysis on top 3 material or manufacturing non-conformances, developing and implementing corrective actions.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure ongoing compliance with GMP and regulatory standards.
- Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and improve manufacturing performance.
- Technical Support & Process Validation:
- Provide technical support to the production team, ensuring that manufacturing processes are robust, efficient, and validated.
- Lead and support Design of Experiments (DOE) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to enhance process reliability and product quality.
- Use Minitab and other statistical tools for process validation, data analysis, and reporting.
- Documentation & Communication:
- Create detailed documentation for processes, validations, and improvements, ensuring clarity and compliance with industry standards.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and management, to drive alignment on improvement initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to document processes and present findings.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Innovative mindset with a focus on process validation and technical problem-solving.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Minitab) for SPC and data analysis.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably within the cannabis or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven experience with SPC, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Strong background in process optimization, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfortable working in environments with exposure to noise, dust, and other industrial elements.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overtime as needed.
